Ancon Cardigan

Ancon Swatch

I wanted to create a lightweight summer pullover and I knew that I wanted there to be stripes to keep with the nautical theme I was working towards with the collection.  As I was swatching different ideas, I found that I like the Garter stitch stripes on the wrong side of the pattern.  It took something expected and made it just a little bit cooler.

The sweater is perfect for spring & summer use in Knit Picks’ CotLin.  Use the seafoam and white for a light spring look, go graphic with grey and black, or go classically neutral with cream and brown (From left to right: Sagebrush, Swan, Whisker, Black, Linen, Thicket).

Ancon In Progress

This cardigan knits up so quickly as it’s just a combination of garter stitch and stockinette stitch.  There’s minimal shaping and the 1×1 twisted rib at the hems keeps everything neat and clean.  I incorporated stockinette selvage stitches at each edge to make seaming and picking up stitches for the button band as easy as possible.
